Why these twelve

This is one of the busiest weeks of the season. Microsoft and Alphabet report on Wednesday and Amazon on Thursday, so by Friday we will know how much the largest cloud companies are spending on AI and whether their customers are keeping up. Around them, Visa and Mastercard give a read on consumer spending, and several of the fintech and crypto names we cover report too.

What would change the mood

  • Good sign: cloud growth at Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon holding steady or speeding up while capital spending rises.

  • Good sign: Visa and Mastercard reporting steady payment volumes, especially cross-border.

  • Warning sign: any of the three cloud companies raising spending plans again without faster revenue growth to match.

  • Warning sign: trading revenue falling at both Robinhood and Coinbase in the same week.

How this connects to our coverage
