Why it matters

At the midpoint, revenue would be nearly four times what Super Micro reported a year ago. The company builds servers and racks for AI data centers, so the jump is another sign of how much the large cloud providers are spending. The higher gross margin matters too. Super Micro's margins have been thin, and this quarter's range is well above what the company itself expected three months ago.

What comes next

These are preliminary figures. The full report on November 3 should also bring an outlook for the December quarter, which will show whether the company expects this level of demand to continue.
